8. 3/12/00 “I have had my 7 year old daughter on your program for 1 ˝ years now. I was unable to give the lecithin due to a diagnosed allergy to soy. Last January I decided to add lecithin capsules just to see what would happen, at the same time I decided to also give 500 mg more of no flush niacin. Her pediatrician agreed to regularly give her a blood test to make sure the excess niacin was not harmful. Last year our 6 year old daughter developed a number of vocal and motor tics and OCD. We were greatly worried by her behavior. After a visit to a pediatric neurologist we were even more confused. He didn’t diagnose her condition, but prescribed Clonidine if the tics got worse. Well the tics did get worse and we decided not to give her the medication after reading about all the possible side effects. Instead, I went out on the web and stumbled across your web pages.
I immediately went out and purchased all the vitamins on your list. Within 4 days, she was 90% better. Within 4 months she is 99% better. Every once in a while she still emits little sounds and has slightly anxious episodes. But we can definitely live with that.” -KP

BM’s brother reported his story in Latitudes magazine Spring 1999 Vol. 4, Issue 2: “I am 51 years old, and I’ve had Tourette syndrome since I
was 9 or 10. As a young child, I had severe body tics and I also flexed my jaw,
ground my teeth and jerked my head. As I moved through my teen years, the
head-jerking stopped and my other tics stabilized, Having Tourette syndrome, and not knowing what was wrong with me, seriously affected my social life. I was a loner as a teen; I was afraid to associate with other kids. My reaction to having TS may have been one of the main reasons I have never married. And it probably made me want to overachieve in other areas of my life. I have a Ph.D. in mathematics, am a former semi-pro athlete and professional league referee – heavy physical exercise always gave me hours of tic-free time –and I am now a senior executive in the computer software industry. Yet, tics continued to embarrass and inhibit me socially, even after I noticed their severity declining again when I reached my forties. I could not bring myself to talk about my condition with anyone, and those around me were left to wonder what was wrong. At the urging of my sister, whose 9-year-old child with TS has responded well to vitamins, I began a supplement program (Bonnie’s) this year on my birthday, February 3, 1999. After just one day, I noticed a change in the way my body felt –the electric tension in my muscles that has been my constant companion since childhood began to subside. By the end of the first week, my tics began to lessen, and by the end of the first month I was virtually tic-free. When I do have flare ups, they are further apart than before and each one is less severe than the last. Now, I have only very minor flare ups, and they occur only when I under extreme stress at work. This change in my condition has made every difference in my life. For the first time I am telling people that I have Tourette syndrome. I have told co-workers, and I’ve told friends I’ve known for decades who have always wondered what was going on, but were afraid to ask. I’m more self-confident. I’m more comfortable doing public speaking at work and I’m doing more of it. I’m more successful in my relations with my colleagues, with my friends, and with women. I know that I am not the only person with TS who is having success with supplements. Not all stories will be as dramatic as mine –and some people may have had no luck at all with this approach –but all the stories need to be told. This is the only way to convince the scientific community to begin researching this area.” -JM

Last year, prior to using the vitamins, my son had a tic with his tongue that wouldn’t allow him to swallow properly. He would choke and could hardly eat. He was also snorting at that time. I was very concerned because he has never been a good eater and he is quite slim. Immediately after taking the vitamins, these tics disappeared. 23 10/13/98 “I thought you might like to know that we tried your vitamin regimen on our son and the results were amazing. He had been experiencing tics which were almost constant, interrupting is speech for 5-10 seconds at a time, and the usual related problems with anxiety and frustration. We began the regimen on Sunday evening although the symptoms seemed to get worse for about 2 days, by Thursday they were gone completely at school and barely noticeable at home even during homework time (very stressful) and past bedtime (usually awful). This status has continued for the past ten days and perhaps not coincidentally he had a vast improvement in his reading skills about two days after the tics stopped. My son, has been taking your vitamin regimen for several weeks now. We have noticed an improvement in tics as well as OCD and phobias. In fact for the first time in about a year he was able to go to a friend’s house and play (2 times). This was so incredible. Before he couldn’t let me out of his sight. He has been calling me less and is once again doing schoolwork (I’m so thankful).
He saw his doctor last week and started telling him about how good he’s doing. This is before I had a chance to inform the doctor that we had discontinued the Zoloft. The doctor was smiling and started to say the Zoloft is working! I had to tell him we took him off the medication and started him on your vitamin regimen. His mouth dropped and his comment was “May I have a copy of this vitamin regimen if it is helping your son, it may help my other patients.” Thankfully, his doctor is open minded and truly wants to help his patients. My question to you is – do you mind if I share your vitamin regimen with him? He was very impressed. My son has made a lot of improvement in a short while. 46. 1/7/97 “Dear Bonnie, Almost one year ago, you kindly sent me your research concerning TS and various vitamin and mineral deficiencies. My son, who is now 15, has TS and I was interested in trying out your suggestions. I have been meaning to write to you for some time, to report the good news that my son’s TS symptoms have greatly decreased, in great part (we feel) to taking the supplements that you suggested. Whenever he forgets to take the supplements ( in particular the B complex), his TS symptoms begin to increase. After a few weeks back on the pills, his TS becomes much less severe. He now takes them religiously!
My son wanted me to tell you that his 800 piece home-built rocket won first place in our county for 4H, first place in our state at last year’s state fair, and first in the United States at the National Science 4H contest. 47 l/20/97 “My son (age 7) takes Bonnie’s recommended supplements and no other meds for his mild (usually) TS symptoms. I did not think they were helping at all until I took him off them when he was having some stomach problems. Tics increased during the period he was off the supplements and decreased when he started them again. His stomach problems were along the lines of indigestion and not related to an illness, so I don’t believe that “being sick” caused the increase in tics.” -FT

The first 2 weeks, or week and a half, his tics worsened quite a lot. It was scary. But we kept him on the vitamins – we were doing this under the supervision of a physician – and then the tics dramatically went away. And for the past year and a half, they have pretty much stayed away with some minor breakthroughs that are hardly worth mentioning. I’ve seen other parents report an initial worsening. We also did not fiddle with the program when we would see little breakthroughs – we just have held steady and it’s been a miracle for us, and that’s not a word I use lightly. My son rarely tics now. 86. 3/23/02 "Hi, I have an eight year old daughter that is on Bonnie's program (ts-PLUS products). I read about her program for two years and was the biggest skeptic there was! My daughter is on clonidine and has done pretty well until this last winter! Her tics became out of control. The eye blinking with her eyes rolling back in her head, the mouth puckering, neck jerking, shoulder shrugging, it was a disaster! She was in a play (at her school), she ticced all thorugh practice and the night of the performance she ticced the whole time she was on stage. It broke my heart! Since I read your plan I have increased J.'s magnesium and do feel he is definitely improving for the first time in over a year! We have never had a waning period in 2 years. The has tics every day. He now drinks water only and has rice milk on his cereal. We have been on the supplements for two weeks straight and I have noticed he can mike it through the day longer without tics. I know in my heart that the answer is findable, and I think you have found the needle in the haystack - it will just take time. I feel lucky that we still have time on our side and that we haven't been forced to try meds (although the neurologist strongly recommended Haldol as he was a moderate to severe case). I have learned so much there, and being aware of your program when my son's tics at Christmastime came to a level demanding ACTION NOW saved my sanity. I started him on the individual vitamins on January 1 (all major ingredients) and switched to your formula on February 11. That first week of January, he had the following tics: crossing his fingers and moving both hands/arms to touch his face especially when sitting down to do something with his hands, occasional neckbend, making little noises or grunts between words when speaking, sometimes making little smacking noises, when in bed after "lights out" making little noises or throat clearing sounds, sometimes saying fa-fa-fa in between speaking, and throwing one arm up in the air in a kind of waving motion (only when excited), blocking (not being able to get the words out) severe at times, bringing him to tears. Worst of all, the tic that made it no longer just a cosmetic, benign condition: tics of his hands when writing, tense grasping of the pencil, having to stack both hands on top of each other and having to touch his face before starting to write. I know record keeping is key in order to shape any treatment. (I got insulin dependent diabetes 13 years ago and have gone through two pregnancies when I had to test around ten times a day.) I am also very determined, and when I saw mothers like yourself who basically eliminated your children's tics by trying different vitamin supplements, I knew I could do it too. When my son was in his worst waxing stage, not only was it Christmas, but he got a sore throat and then a violent stomach virus. He got over it quickly like he always does, but I am now completely convinced that a stress on the body like a virus, especially involving the stomach, upsets the balance of vitamin/minerals and if you immediately supplement, you can shorten the recovery period. I believe you need both a bsic program like yours, and then couple it with the extra doses (magnesium and zinc) when a suspected stress factor is present or tics increase. I am a firm believer in vitamin supplementation as a treatment for tics. C.'s worst period in school with tics came after about a month on the individual vitamins. It was really all related to his mouth and speech, and more when excited: He would kind of smack his lips in between words, and sometimes bubble up saliva at his lips, for about two days he would also sometimes open his mouth to the point that saliva would "fall out" so to speak. This of course would lead to comments like "Why are you spitting on my folder?" and questions from half of his classmates of "Why do you spit when you talk?" He also had blocking going with this, but that part was usually worst at home at night. It was heart breaking, although it really was only bad one week, and then milder for another week or two. As a comparison, the last three periods of breakthrough tics were around three to five days each, and only with blocking, and the last one also eye blinking. It was never bad at all except for a 15 minute period shortly after pickup and no child really cared or commented on it in school, so it was no big deal. I only hope that this is the level of waxing he will continue to have in the future, because on that level itis simply not changing our lives much. I saw his improvement going to a new level, after changing from the individual vitamins to your all-in-one formula (ts-PLUS CONTROL), NO DOUBT. During Easter vacation we had a couple of long days away from home, and C. would not get his vitamins until 8-9 pm. in other words, 12 hours since his last dose of vitamins. I let it slack off since he had not had any tics in so long (I mean zero in at least two weeks). Arond 6pm-8pm he would have slight tics with his mouth. This was a confirmation that C. needs those vitamins! This happened three days in a row so it was not just a one time thing. About a week or so later though, when again it was 12 hours in between doses, he had absolutely NO tics, and the same another week later, so then he must have been naturally more "resistant". I really believe in the improtance in being consistent though, so I always try to spread them out over three doses a day. But, it was really interesting as a "test". " -T 115. 9/17/02 "My son has been on a modified version of Bonnie's supplements for about 1 1/2 years. I put him on because he had large arm, hand and facial twitches. I took about six weeks to build to the recommended dose, and during that time I saw his tics lessen until they almost disappeared. I subsequently reduced the dose of the vitamins because I am uncomfortable giving too much, and find that taking between 1/8 and 1/4 of the recommended dose usually keeps my son's tics down to the point that only people looking for tics find them. When I have taken him off the regimen entirely for a few days, the tics reoccur. Two or three times (usually when he has had a sleep deficit that lasts for more than a month) his tics got much more frequent, and I increased the dose; within a week or so the tics diminished. As you point out, much of this is uncharted territory from traditional medicine (as you and I both know, it's because the drug companies won't make much money off this approach.) Kudos to you for doing the small trials you outline in your online info! I'd like the composition data because I know that in certain conditions dosage really does matter for effectiveness and I really want to be observant to a fault as my patient enters this regimen.
